wHAT HAPPENS TO THE ELEMENTS IN IRON ORE WHEN THE ORE IS MIXED WITH CARBON AND HEATED

The pellets of Carbon hold the Iron atoms together making the mixture (alloy) stronger (harder and more brittle).
